Whatever it is you have planned, the new Golf Estate is prepared for everything and is as felxbile as you are. The new Golf Estate provides you with lots of space, dynamic design, a sporty engine and numerous driver assistance systems
When you look at the new Golf Estate, its LED daytime running lights and turn signals which are integrated into halogen headlights will immediately catch your eye, as does the body-coloured bumper. Further highlights include the radiator grille and air intake grille, both in classic black.
The tail is equally impressive: from the boot lid with its integrated spoiler and two-section bumper cover with divided LED tail lights to the integrated reflectors and black-grained diffuser. The stylish design is rounded off with a striking roof railing. This can be used to hold larger items, with a choice between the Trendline or Comfortline models, both of which come in black as standard. The Highline version, which is also available as an option for the Comfortline model, gleams in anodised silver.
The interior of the new Golf Estate invites you to sit down immediately and not get up again until you absolutely have to. This is thanks mainly to the generous proportions, which offer both front and rear occupants plenty of leg room. The vehicle interior is also distinguished by universally high-quality materials and a wide range of intelligent detailed solutions, which impress both in terms of appearance and practicality. These include, for example, the ergonomic seats, spaceous luggage compartment and centre console, which is tilted slightly towards the driver and is extremely user-friendly thanks to its special ergonomic design, and white illuminated switches.
The Golf Estate is available with optional LED headlights, LED daytime running lights and LED fog lights so you can enjoy a visible advantage. These are not only more economic than conventional halogen bulbs, but are also distinguished by their extensive light volume, long lifetime and a light spectrum that is similar to daylight.
The automatic headlight range control adjusts the illumination of the road to light and weather conditions. A headlight washer system with water level warning lamp also makes sure that the lights can always shine clearly.
The choice is yours! Whichever of the optional alloy wheels you choose is sure to emphasise the sportiness of your new Golf Estate. Choose from various sizes between 15 and 18 inches as well as a range of dynamic designs. You will also be spoilt for choice when it comes to the surface and colour of the wheel rims. Whether you prefer matte, anodised or diamond turned alloy wheels, your choice is bound to give your new Golf Estate a dynamic touch that further emphasises its striking design.
Keeping a safe distance from the vehicle in front is reassuring while driving in traffic. Optional adaptive cruise control helps you to do just that.
ACC measures the proximity and speed of vehicles on the road ahead. In queues and traffic jams, the system combines with the optional DSG dual clutch gearbox to brake your Golf Estate to a stop and automatically move forward again shortly after. Within system limits, ACC can keep your car a safe distance from the vehicle in front at speeds of up to 210 km/h.
Sometimes the unexpected happens, and emergency braking is required. In these cases, the optional Front Assist area monitoring system can be useful. Within the system limits, you will receive a warning if the system detects a critical tailgating situation. In particularly critical situations, the system can also assist with braking or can even brake automatically to reduce the impact speed.
The City Emergency Braking system can intervene when you are driving at low speeds in city traffic, while Pedestrian Monitoring can detect, within the limits of the system, if for example a pedestrian steps onto the road suddenly. The assistance system provides relevant warnings, assists with braking or brakes automatically – always within the limits of the system. In the ideal case, this will prevent a collision or at least reduce its severity.
Manoeuvring with a trailer can become a test of patience if you don’t have much practice. This is because the trailer doesn’t always react as you may expect – among other things, the steering is reversed. The steering angle is decisive for precise reversing, and the optional Trailer Assist trailer manoeuvring system will take care of steering for you. First select reverse gear, press the parking aid button and use the mirror adjustment knob to set the direction in which the trailer should be steered. Your Golf Estate will now steer automatically while you just need to take care of changing gear, accelerating and braking. This means you stay in control at all times.
If a car is approaching you from the rear and cannot be seen in your exterior or rear view mirror, it is in the dreaded blind spot. Before changing lanes, the trusty glance over the shoulder helps – and now, so does the optional blind spot sensor. From speeds of 15 km/h, the sensor can warn you by illuminating an LED icon on the exterior mirror of your Golf Estate. If you still switch on your turn signal, the light begins to flash brighter and more quickly and draw your attention to the vehicle in your blind spot.
In combination with the lane keeping system Lane Assist, the blind spot sensor can even use corrective steering intervention to warn you within the limits of the system before you change lanes.
For its part, the Rear Traffic Alert assists you when reversing out of a parking space, within the limits of the system. Sensors in the rear bumper monitor traffic passing at the rear of the vehicle. If another car, a cyclist or a pedestrian is approaching you from the side, you will be warned by means of an acoustic signal and an indication on the Infotainment system display. If you do not react in time, the system can mitigate or even prevent an imminent collision by effecting a braking intervention.
TSI petrol engines feature impressive performance and efficiency. You benefit from maximum torque even at low engine speeds. The combination of low displacement with a turbocharger and direct fuel injection creates a very even transmission of power in these powertrains. Downsizing technology is used to achieve this, allowing the engines to produce high performance despite relatively low displacement.
TDI engines are diesel engines with turbocharging and direct fuel injection using common rail technology. They are noted for their economy, drive and outstanding performance. They are also particularly quiet running, while their high torque means sporty handling is supported.
The Golf Estate has ample space, whatever your plans – from a surfing trip on the coast to the weekly shopping trip to the supermarket. Thanks to its particularly low load sill and a height adjustable load floor in the luggage compartment, you can also load heavy objects with ease. The four fastening rings make it easy to secure the load.
Also, if you need even more space, the luggage compartment cover is easy to detach and stow away under the luggage compartment floor. The asymmetrically divided rear seat backrests, which can be folded down separately, come into their own when you need to stow bulky items. The rear centre armrest with load-through hatch comes as standard from the Comfortline equipment version upwards.
A glass roof allows more light to enter the vehicle interior, giving you a uniquely generous feeling of space – especially when you open the optional panoramic sliding sunroof. Kids in particular will love the breathtaking view.
The roof consists of two large glass panels, with an electric tilting and sliding function on the front panel. When the sun is too strong, you can cover the panoramic sliding sunroof completely at the touch of a button using the blind underneath.
Thanks to the optional Active Info Display, you can enjoy the advantages of an instrument cluster with a high-resolution 31 cm (12.3-inch) colour display. With various information profiles, you can decide which specific data are displayed in the instrument cluster in addition to the usual gauges such as the rev counter, speedometer and odometer.
You can select this information profile quickly and easily using the optional multifunction steering wheel: depending on your precise needs, you can access detailed Driving Data, for example, or show a visual display of your driver assistance systems. This means the display area can be even better used, because you can also show additional data within the tubes.
In the Discover Media Infotainment system, you can decide whether you would like to see the navigation map in the Active Info Display, or have the classic view on the system display. With Discover Pro, both display options are available simultaneously.
